In keeping with the Sejm regulations, the Marshal protects the rights and dignity of the House, represents the Sejm and chairs the debates of the Sejm, the Sejm Presidium, the Senior Deputies' Council and the National Assembly. In specyfic circumstances, he deputises for the president and orders presidential elections.
